Bethesda Softworks announced today that a crapload of 4.7 million units of Fallout 3 were sold across PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, amounting to total sales over $300 million.
Fallout 3 takes place in a nuclear wasteland, set more than 200 years following a nuclear war. You spend your time wandering around the remnants of what was once Washington, D.C., battling all sorts of mutated ghouls and monsters. That sounds like a good time to me.
Reviews are resoundingly positive for the game. The Xbox version snagged a 93 on Metacritic, and the PS3 version has a 92. And according to Bethesda's press release, Gamespy, GamePro, UGO, the Associated Press, MSN, The Washington Post, G4-TV, and Eurogamer (among others) all gave the game perfect scores. That's pretty impressive.
