So... there has been quite a lot of controversy surrounding Acclaim's BMX XXX. They even decided to censor the PS2 version (HA HA!). The game's slogan is "Keep it Dirty," and they certainly did here on GameCube. Does the game's naughty nature help make it feel a brand-new sports title? Read on.

Hm... Well, if you want to believe that this game is a wonderful game and that you need to go buy 5 copies right now, you should probably skip this section, because this is where the game does the worst. While not horrible, the graphics are definitely nothing special and ould probably even be considered a little bit on the bad side. Things seem blocky and textureless and the landscapes are pretty plain. The levels themselves don't look all that bad, with plenty of objects, but, again, they don't look all that great. The people look pretty good, and the women and their... er... equipment are illustrated well. Fortunately, the animations are done excellently, so a double-alley oop-backflip-180 superman-toboggan-to-a-wall ride-toothpick grind looks pretty good. When the rider collides with something, it looks pretty cool, and you find yourself hurting on behalf of the rider for landing smack on his/her head. Also, a huge plus is that the womens' breats jiggle as you crash, slide and turn, which is even more obvious if you use the "Topless rider" cheat. An enormously huge absence in the game is blood. There is no blood whatsoever. I always thought the newer Tony Hawks where you see the blood splat and fly all over the place were fun if only just for the blood. :-)

If you want a reason to play BMX XXX, this is it. Easily the best part of the game, the gameplay offers a blast (at least, for a while). The game mechanics themselves - the BMX portion of the game - are very stale. We've seen it in more than 10 other games, such as Tony Hawk, Tony Hawk 2, Tony Hawk 3, Tony Hawk 4, Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX, and, of course, many more. It's the usual: grinding, manuals, nose manuals, and various tricks. Even the tricks aren't very rewarding because there aren't many at all. There are only a handful you can do while in the air, which is where it's really lacking, and there are a few mre options with flatland tricks because you can do them from both manuals and nose manuals. Grinding also offers a few tricks, but grinding can be easily more interesting because it's always a different setting and a different execution of the trick. As you most likely know by now, the tricks and flicks aren't the only part of the game. The game thinks it's pretty funny... and it is. It features Pimps, Whores, videos of women sexerizing themselves, and breasts just... just all over the place. The different scenarios are very funny, such as toting around a constipated guy in a port-a-potty to get his crap loose, collecting dynamite for a pyro who goes on to blow up a building, and getting a poodle over to a mutt so the park cleaner doesn't have to deal with the mutt's s**t anymore. The way things are phrased often stirs up a chuckle, especially with friends; maybe, in part, because of all the swears that are used. Or, maybe, just maybe, it is all that sex 'n' drugs 'n' alcohol (etc.). There are 3 multiplayer options, but the multiplayer definitely has its shortcomings - for one, because there isn't any way to change any options. The three modes are Skillz, which is a 2-minute trick-fest to try to get more points than your opponent. It's incredibly annoying that you can't change the timelimit, because 2 minutes is absolutely not enough time. The second mode is Paintball, where one person tries to collect 10 boomboxes in 2 minutes, which is, again, not enouch time, which the other person shoots paintballs at the player, trying to hit him or her 3 times before the end. The last and sometimes the most rewarding option is the Strip Challenge, where you try to get the highest combo possible. Once you reach that goal, the other player loses an article of clothing. First of all, there should be the option of increasing how many articles of clothing you have to lose, because the game is pretty short as it is. Also, it is fairly easy to cheat the game, almost, because you can just do 50 grinds in a row, hopping up and down on a rail or a wall. One great feature of the game is the rider editor, where you can change the look and gender of your rider to suit your needs. This option was designed very well, with very easy changes made, and many things that are customizable.

Although the control definitely does it's job, it could easily be better. For example, the B button does tricks (while you move the control stick in different directions), and there could be a different button for tricks that could enable the game to have many more tricks availible. The C-stick could have been put into play here, maybe along with the control stick to have twice as many tricks availible. It is sometimes too hard to land a trick, but that is mostly because of the camera angle that the game goes into when you're about to land. The controls when you go into a manual are very weird, because you can't be accelerating when in a manual, because the accelerate button is also do a small hop, and it just won't let you do both at once. Trying to do tricks in a manual can be an unwanted chore, too, because it's just hard to do. Probably the most annoying thing is that A is both accelerate and a little bunnyhop, so when you want to slow down, you also have to jump. Rrg.

As with all these new sports games, this one has a soundtrack featuring all kinds of rock and rap and all that. The artists include KRS-One, Green Day, Saliva, 311, and more. There could be a little more variety in the songs, and the levels always start with the same song by Green Day, which gets really old really fast. The sound effects are nothing special. There are some metal grinding noises, some cement grinding noises, some collision noises, and that's about it with the effects. The voice overs are pretty good, with the voice matching the face - the characters speak the way you would expect them to.
