Many of us wish to write down our family histories but have little experience in research or writing. In this "hands on" workshop, author Helen Epstein will give an introduction to the genealogical project and the different options available to the aspiring family historian. Using her own family history of Czech Jews, Where She Came From, as a case study, the author will explain the research, interview and writing techniques that she, a veteran journalist, used to retrieve and reconstruct a part of Central European Jewish history. "Getting started" exercises are part of the agenda and participants are asked to bring a pen and notepad to the workshop.
